Komachi Street (小町通り)

Komachi Street is also known as a gourmet street – there are so many delis, restaurants, and take-out shops here to enjoy. And also, If you want to see the area in style, why not rent a kimono and get pulled around Kamakura in one of the many rickshaws available for hire. The street has lived starred in some TV programs and magazines. There are about 250 shops.

Tips❕❗️Komachi-Dori is a long shopping street that’s fun to explore. You can also then grab a snack to eat on the road or sit down for a bowl of the local specialty. At the end of the road, you will arrive at the tsurugaoka hachimangu shrine.

Let me now introduce you to the best snacks I’ve tried in Komachi street in Kamakura.

Kamakura Menchikatsu (極上鎌倉メンチカツ )

It’s a deep-fried breadcrumbed food roll) which are delicious and perfectly handy to walk around. The inside of it it’s beef which you can taste the juiciness of the meat, and the price is ¥300. Available also in cheese flavor for only ¥400.

Giraffa Kare Pan (カレーパン)

The bread dough is chewy, and the curry inside feels the sweetness of the fruit, probably because it uses fruit! It was very delicious! And the price is ¥350 each, very affordable.

Maruten (まる天)

The shop just opened in June of this year, about 5 minutes on foot from the east exit of Kamakura Station on Komachi Street. They were selling freshly fried cheese and octopus flavor, so I was hung up and got a cheese stick. It is ¥350 per stick. The taste was quite delicious. Octopus sticks are kind of popular too. It’s easy to eat; you can also sit on the bench next to the restaurant.

Merci CAFE DE FLEUR (カフェ・ドゥ・フルール)

The Store served the most famous smooth pudding with vanilla flavor, and it was delicious. It’s trendy for children and adults because of the taste that everybody can enjoy. The price is ¥600, but the size is more significant compared to other stores.
