Todai-ji Temple (東大寺)

And the roaming deer outside the Temple (奈良公園)

Hey, We are in Nara prefecture, and I’m going to tell you about my experience with this lovely deer and let’s see what’s inside in the Todai-Ji temple.

The Nara Park is one of the “Places of Scenic Beauty,” and Over 1,200 wild sika deer (シカor 鹿 Shika) freely roam around in the park as natural wealth. Because according to Shinto shrine and local folklore, Nara deer were the sacred messengers of the gods, such that, in historical times, killing a deer in Nara was a fraud punishable by death.

Feeding the deer

The deer in Nara Park is affirming some behaviors when pleading to be fed. I can see why Nara’s deer are exceptional. They’ve come to see travelers as a source of food. You can purchase deer crackers for less than ¥200 to feed them, after which deer will instantly start following you around. At first, I got scared because they wouldn’t stop following you until the food was in your hand. So if you are thinking of feeding other deer, hide it and move.

Todaiji Temple
Big Buddha (Daibutsu)

Tōdaiji Temple

Tōdai-Ji (東大寺) or “Great Eastern Temple” is the most historical Temple preserves many precious cultural treasures from the Temple’s past. Moreover, it also is a treasure house of traditional Buddhist ceremonies such as the Shunie ceremony held at the Nigatsu-dō (二月堂) or “The half of the second month.” Several people from throughout Japan and the world visit the Temple to worship and pay their admiration every year.

Big Buddha (Daibutsu) is the world’s most giant bronze Buddha. Originally built between 735 and 749, the colossal sitting Buddha sculpture is 72 feet high, weighs over 550 tons, and wrapped almost 300 pounds of gold.

Buddha’s nostril
I did it!

Another famous attraction is a pillar with a hole in its ground, similar to the Great Buddha’s nostril. It said that those who crawl through it would receive enlightenment and have all their prayers answered. And yes, I did it. Hooray!. Comparing my existence before and now is different, but yes, accomplishing this method doesn’t mean all the desires you pray for will be answered. It relies on how it can impact you or is this good for you. For me, this is for giving you more belief and encouragement to enlighten you to live the best version of your life. Very miraculous Temple, aren’t they? There are many attraction spots in Nara prefecture, and most of them are temples, too, because Nara is the cradle of Japanese culture.

Store design

Let me share with you what is inside the IKEA kohoku.

It has the hugest parking.
It has three large elevators on the left side of the entrance door.
This area is where you start to shop. Just follow the arrow mark on the floor going to showroom furniture.

Ikea store designed in a one-way setup, guiding costumers counter-clockwise along the way. What IKEA calls it? It’s “the long natural way” to assist the customer in seeing the store in its entirety instead of a standard retail store, which enables a customer to go instantly to the segment where the desired interests and services are displayed. There are often shortcuts to other parts of the showroom.

Nagoya Anime Location

Are you a fan of Anime here in Japan? Isn’t it interesting to visit Anime spots in Japan to explore the country? And this aspect of finding out the country is getting more popular among adventurous travelers tired of the usual tourist places.

I have compiled a list of Anime series taking place in Nagoya and how you can visit the real-life locations yourself. Enjoy taking pictures.

Seraph of the End (終わりのセラフ) – Nagoya

The Anime series is set in a world that allegedly comes to an end at the hands of a “human-made” virus and ravages Japan’s global populace, where only children under 13 survived a virus.

One of these devastated locations is, really, Nagoya’s city center, Sakae. How was Japan our protagonists had to overcome in the series when adults lived and vampires stayed hidden?

Visit Sakae, especially the Hisaya Odori Park, and discover what remained of the area in Owari no Seraph’s world.

While Sakae is great for some brand shopping if you want to buy Anime and Manga merchandise, we recommend visiting the Mandarake shop, a very popular Anime, Manga, and Doujinshi shop chain in Japan. You can find its Nagoya store in Osu, only a few minutes’ walk from Sakae.

Haganai (僕は友達が少ない) – Nagoya

This Anime Series talks about high school students lacking social skills who decide to create a club for people like them, the Neighbors Club, to train how to make friends. They will encounter different adventures while practicing their social skills.

In episode 7 of this Anime, you can find a trendy meeting spot in Nagoya, the Golden Clock inside Nagoya Station.

I feel like a particular type of meeting up near the Golden Clock to stroll around the Nagoya Station area.

Golden Clock
Silver Clock

On the opposite side of the station, you will find the Silver Clock, another popular meeting point in Nagoya. If you exit the station on this site, you will find the Animate and Toranoana stores where you can shop around for Manga and Anime merch!

Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki – Nagoya

This might be the Manga and Anime that most portraits the city of Nagoya. The lead character of this story moves from the busy city of Tokyo to Nagoya, where he meets the peculiar Yatogame, a girl with a heavy Nagoya accent.

In my free time, I visited different spots in Nagoya and learned everything about the city, including its strangest and most clever secrets. If you’re interested must explore the place and be surprised by the history of Nagoya.

Have an Adventurous way and Explore different locations around Nagoya, such as Nagoya Station and its surroundings, Osu, and the famous local Coffee Chain called Komeda’s Coffee. I’m sure you will love it.

Asakusa Senso-Ji (浅草寺)

Hey there, let me greet you with a happy new year—this is my introductory blog in 2022. Please keep checking my blog for more Information on Japan Tourist attractions. I’m heading to tackle Senso-Ji, which is very popular during the new year season. Japanese people believe getting on into the temple and buying amulets will give them luck and protection throughout the year.

Senso-Ji 浅草寺 is the oldest temple in Tokyo and so-called Asakusa Kannon because it houses the Kannon; it is acknowledged throughout Japan. It is the temple of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu), Who symbolizes the grace of all Buddhas. This vital center of religious faith draws 30 million worshippers every year.

History

Asakusa at the time was a small fishing village located in an estuary of Tokyo Bay in the vast wilderness of the area known as Musashino. It grew and flourished as people arrived in increasing numbers to worship. When Ennin (794-864), head priest of Enryaku-Ji (the main temple of the Tendai school of Buddhism), visited Senso-Ji in the mid-ninth century, he created a statue identical to the main image (absolutely Hibutsu) so that it could be shown rarely to the public.

During the Kamakura Period (1185-1333), the Shoguns demonstrated extraordinary devotion to Senso-Ji. Gradually, other prominent figures, including military leaders and literati, followed their example, and the temple’s importance increased. In 1590 Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first Tokugawa Shogun, designated Senso-Ji as the temple where prayers of the shogunate would be offered. After that, the successive Tokugawa Shoguns had often visited Senso-Ji, and the belief in Kannon of the Senso-jihad spread among ordinary people during the Edo Period(1603-1867).
From the end of the 18th century through the 19th century, Edo city developed into the most significant population city globally, the culture-specific to Edo flowered, and Asakusa had become the cultural center in Edo.

Inside the Temple
Nakamise Shopping Street
Five stories Pagoda

The Five-Storied Pagoda was first constructed in 942 by Taira no Kinmasa. Tokugawa Iemitsu had the ancient national treasure rebuilt, but it was burned during the Great Tokyo Air Raid on March 10, 1945. It was renovated in 1973 with donations from devout followers around the nation. Busshari (Buddha’s ashes) were given as a blessing from the royal temple of Sri Lanka.

Nakamise is one of the oldest shopping streets in Japan. Traditional Japanese toys, cakes, and other souvenirs are all sold here. Including a variety of street foods that I’m sure you will love.

Buddha
Praying hall

By entering the main hall of the temple, especially during the new year season, was the crowded days, so expected to have more patience of lining up to pray and buying amulets.

*To pray at the main hall, place your hands together in the Buddhist prayer position and chant “Namu Kanzeon Bosatsu, or “I place my trust in Bodhisattva Kannon.”

When to go: Best to visit during the new year season because of the event called hatsumode (To pray for safety, good health, and good harvest throughout the coming year.)
